Poise: Percussion Sampler - Quick Start Guide

This Quick Start Guide introduces the key features of Poise: Percussion Sampler.

Installation

  • Locate VST plugin folder.
  • Create a sub-folder labelled 'Poise'. (Poise currently requires a few support files along side the Poise.dll file.)
  • Extract contents of the Poise archive to new folder.
  • Start or restart your host application.

First Steps

Enable hotkey support.

To enable support for hot keys in Poise, ensure the "Hot Keys Enabled" has a check mark next to it.

Open and close the browser.

The browser can be opened or closed by clicking on the button in the top left section of the GUI.

HOTKEY: Open/Close browser F5.

Add directories to the browser.

  • Right click the browser display.
  • Choose "Add Folder".

Configuring Pads to respond to your midi controller.

Individual Poise pads can be configured to respond to any midi note.

  • Right click a drum pad and choose the "Learn Trigger Note"
  • Hit/press the pad or key on your midi device to trigger the pad.

Editing Samples

Loading Samples

Samples can be loaded by dragging them from the browser or windows explorer.

A: Drop samples on a drum pad to load samples.
B: Drop samples on a sample icon in the wave display to replace existing samples.

TIP: Multiple samples can be dragged and dropped at once.

Reversing a Sample

After loading a sample, right click the sample icon in the wave display.

Edit Multiple Samples simultaneously

Shift-Click on the sample icons in the wave display to select and de-select multiple samples.

Edit Multiple Pads simultaneously

Shift-Click on individual drum pads. Alternatively click and drag the mouse over several drum pads.

Context Sensitive Delete

The Delete hotkey is context sensitive.

A: Pressing delete after clicking on a pad will reset the pad.
B: Pressing delete after clicking on a sample icon will delete selected samples from the pad.

Hot Keys:

  • F5: Show/hide the browser.
  • F6: Toggle sample preview on/off
  • F7: Toggle auto pad select on/off. (When on, midi input will change the pad selected.)
  • Arrow Keys: Use to navigate the browser. When the browser is closed, they can be used to change the selected drum pad.
  • Enter/Return: Load the selected items in the browser. Can be samples, cells or drum kits.
  • End: Trigger the selected drum pad.
  • A,S,W,D: Change the selected drum pad.
  • Delete: After loading some samples, delete will remove newly loaded samples.
    After selecting a drum pad, delete will reset the pad.
    After selecting a cell layer, delete will remove any selected layers.
  • Tab: Change the layer mode for all selected pads.
  • Ctrl A: Select / de-select all drum pads
  • Ctrl X,C,V: Cut, copy and Paste the selected drum pad.
